Check the Tote's History Before Using It for Rainwater
Thread compatibility is only part of setting up a used IBC tote.
If you plan to collect rainwater, find out what the tote previously contained. Do not assume that rinsing an unknown chemical tote makes it suitable for garden, household, animal, or drinking-water use.
For drinking-water applications in particular, the container, previous contents, collection surface, plumbing, treatment system, maintenance, and current water testing all matter. A clean-looking IBC tote or a filter attached to its outlet does not by itself make stored rainwater potable.
